On behalf of the Governor of Jakarta, I would like to extend his apology for the absence due to prior engagement.

We are delighted to join this forum with all of you. Allow me to convey our sincere thank you and appreciation to the Russian Embassy and its partners in hosting the Russian-Indonesian Forum Business online with the main aim at seizing the potential cooperation among stakeholders in the area of Information Technology, including the smart city.

Digital transformation has been and always will be an essential structure in modern times, especially during this unprecedented time. For instance, since the first outbreak of Covid-19 in the world, almost every sector intensified digitalisation to keep the communication and coordination line running. The same applies to Jakarta.

Jakarta Provincial Government has made numbers of efforts of digitalisation to keep the public services running while adapting with current demand and situation. The digital approach we used is based on seven smart city indicators; namely: smart governance, smart people, smart mobility, smart living, smart environment, smart economy, and smart branding.

As Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta is home to more than ten million people, with diverse background and multifaceted issues that demand dynamic yet excellent public services. This demand is transcribed in the vision and mission of Jakarta Provincial Government to build a new face of urban infrastructure provision in supporting better public services in the era of City 4.0.

Jakarta Provincial Government has aiming to improve active participation and engagement of the city’s co-creator to build a better place, in line with the notion of City 4.0. We changed the gear and turning this city into a more collaborative space for our citizens, communities, organisations, businesses, media, and so on. We keep working to make sure that our city grows together with our people.

Today, we all gather here to hear an inspiring idea and innovation. As a growing city, we hope you would be willing to share best practices on various facets of development for digital strengthening in our Smart City.

We highly appreciate knowledge-sharing and productive dialogue to enrich our perspectives on digital development challenges and potential in Jakarta from your viewpoints. We are also keen to learn about alternative funding schemes or financing for smart city projects.

Hence, on behalf of the Jakarta Capital City Government, I hope this forum will prevail the strong relations between Jakarta and Moscow and bilateral ties between Russia and Indonesia.

On this meeting, I would also like to offer my highest appreciation for Your Excellency’s invitation and support. We look forward to hearing and putting prospective thoughts into action.

Spasiba. Thank you.

Wassalamualaikum WR WB
